The story of Evja began in 2015…
We are a group of young professionals with a passion for agriculture who decided to stamp our professional history with the idea of supporting farmers in monitoring and protecting their cultivations. We have undertaken the OPI research and development project and initiated continuous innovation processes in collaboration with universities and research institutes. Our main scientific partners include the University of Naples Federico II, the University of Pisa, the University of Almeria, the CNR and CREA, as well as all national and international stakeholders interested in developing best practices in the agricultural sector. Evja in the development of precision technology in technology in the agri-food field “does not only reflect on how things are done but also defines what makes, but also defines what makes sense in a context in which digital technology is transforming people, the environment, the economy and society.

Our vision is to continue to invest in research, which we are passionate about, and in the technological solutions that improve food safety and quality of life. Evja has developed OPI, a state-of-the-art decision support system that integrates the latest Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence technologies.
The system platform is optimised for processing the data acquired in the field by the OPI Sensor Nodes and the consequent real-time execution of advanced agro-climatic algorithms and predictive models for specific phytopathologies and physiopathologies calibrated for specific crops.
OPI Sensor Nodes are rugged, waterproof electronic devices that are highly resistant to the harsh conditions of agricultural environments, and are fully autonomous in terms of both power and cooling. Furthermore, they are fully autonomous in terms of both energy and Internet connectivity.
These features allow the system to be installed in any type of production environment, both in the field and in greenhouses.
The Sensor Nodes are optimised for the management and transmission of agro-climatic data acquired in the field from sensors installed in the immediate vicinity of the crop, which monitor in real time critical factors such as air humidity and temperature, solar radiation, leaf wetness and soil water content at different levels.
All parameters acquired in the field are geo-referenced, thanks to the GPS technology integrated in the devices, and are therefore automatically correlated to a specific geographical position.
The OPI Decision Support System is an intelligent agro-climatic analysis tool useful to take the best decisions for the entire crop management (e.g. programming, sowing plans, etc.), for field operations (e.g. tillage, sowing, irrigation) and for crop protection and nutrition (e.g. optimal periods to carry out specific treatments or fertilisations), with the aim of increasing the quality and quantity of production with the maximum sustainability in full respect of the environment (e.g. thanks to the optimisation of the use of water resources, fertilisers and fertilizers).
