Apepak organic wrappers are made with organic beeswax from CONAPI beekeepers, GOTS organic cotton, organic jojoba oil and natural pine resin. They are therefore organic and environmentally friendly, each use saves our planet its equivalent in disposable plastic. The products are 100% Made in Italy and the supply chain is certified and controlled. MOCA and HACCP certifications.

ETHIC

Apepak is handmade by the Cooperativa Sociale L’Incontro 4.0, which has MOCA certification and complies with HACCP standards. With Apepak, we support the re-employment of people with disabilities; through work in the cooperative, they have an opportunity for work and social integration.

PRACTICAL

With Apepak you can cover or form bowls, wrap vegetables, herbs, half lemons, cheese, leftovers, bread and sandwiches. It is very easy to use because it is malleable, it molds with the heat of your hands therefore sealing the food.

ECO-FRIENDLY

It is environmentally friendly, biodegradable, washable and reusable for over a year. Replaces at least 400m of plastic bags, cellophane, aluminum and disposable wrappers.

The Story

The idea was born in 2017 from the great passion for nature of Massimo Massarotto and Molly Knickerbocker, a passion that immediately turns into a job with the will to create a revolutionary and innovative project.
Massimo: Italian by origin, lives in California where he found inspiration for the attention to ecological innovation and redistribution of resources for the benefit of the community. Molly: Californian raised in a family of cooks and beekeepers with a passion for healthy and organic food.

Together, after months of work and testing, they have created the first prototypes, made with cotton scraps from Molly’s grandmother and beeswax from her father: 100% natural and 100% ecological. A project that started as a startup that quickly became a benefit company, a leading company in the sustainability scene.

Massimo and Molly got married in San Francisco and live in Nevada City, California.

How Apepak is made

Apepak is made from renewable, recyclable and biodegradable raw materials: GOTS organic cotton, organic beeswax from CONAPI Mielizia beekeepers, organic jojoba oil and natural pine resin.

GOTS cotton

GOTS cotton (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the world’s highest quality standard and certification of excellence. GOTS cotton involves the field harvesting of natural fibers in compliance with environmental and social criteria.

Bio Beeswax

The beeswax is 100% organic and Made in Italy with certified and controlled supply chain, contributing to the preservation of more than 5 billion bees. Apepak uses CONAPI-MIELIZIA beeswax, the National Consortium of Italian Beekeepers.

Organic Jojoba Oil

Certified organic without the use of toxic or harmful substances. It is revitalizing and prevents dehydration of beeswax.

Natural pine resin

100% natural ensures perfect adhesion for cloth sealing.

How to use Apepak

Wrap dried fruits, vegetables, aged cheeses, meats and cold cuts to keep in the fridge.

You can protect the food in the freezer, just warm the sheet with your hands and in a few minutes you can open it with more ease.

Ideal for storing bread, sandwiches and as a take away wrap for the office or picnic. Great as a mat for kneading bread and dough. Covers and seals any container, jar or bowl including pizza rising or sourdough refreshment. Ideal for wrapping cakes and storing cookies.

Reusable and Plastic Free

Global plastic pollution is becoming increasingly serious. Replacing disposable with reusable products is an important step to limit the amount of waste we put into the environment. Apepak was born from the desire to protect the environment, the desire to find new solutions, to challenge our talent, to promote the choice of Italian, ecological and sustainable products. To do one’s part.

Apepak sheets and bags are washable with cold water or natural soap and reusable up to 1000 times. Packaged in a totally biodegradable paper bag, they save at least 1 square meter of plastic per day per family.

Apepak is based on the Circular Economy model, i.e. a self-regenerative production and consumption cycle in which materials are replenished through technical or biological cycles that minimize quality loss and maximize value. Waste (e.g. GOTS Apepak fabric) is not disposed of but recovered, recycled or regenerated to be used again.

Ethical production and social inclusion

In addition to bringing a breath of ecology in the kitchen, Apepak contributes to social inclusion because it is made by the Social Cooperative L’Incontro Industria 4.0, which aims to integrate people with disabilities into the world of work, demonstrating its desire to fully combine sustainability with social inclusion.

Apepak is made with artisan and not industrial processes and completely on site.

We enable people to change the food system in a sustainable and regenerative way: the business generated by Apepak supports more and more bees and organic beekeepers by regenerating bee pasture lands and social inclusion through the re-employment in production.
